Honestly speaking, when compared to plant, I love animals more. In the endemic specimen research institution, I saw lots of injured birds and little animals. I felt pity about them. I had a parrot when I was 7. It’s called Carly, and it had accompanied me for 5 years. It died in a cold freezing night because it was so fat. I love it so much. I can’t believe that people will throw their pets away, or tortured them. I pass through the cage, seeing all the poor creatures inside it with dilapidated body. And inside the rescued center, there were a box. I peeked inside, and there are two fury black birds! They are all babies. They cried for food and tumbling around. The seniors fed them with mealworms. They are damn cute.  While I was indulged in the cuteness of little birds, I felt an intense gaze at me. I saw an African grey parrot. Without second thought, I touch it with my finger. And I get serious bites. I can’t scream BECAUSE JACK TOLD US NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING, but I touch it.
The feather of that parrot was scattered. The staff told me it had anxiety disorder. The African Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus), also known as the Grey Parrot, is a parrot found in the primary and secondary rainforest of West and Central Africa. Experts regard it as one of the most intelligent birds in the world. A study published in 2011, led by Dalila Bovet of Paris West University Nanterre La Défense, demonstrated African Grey parrots were able to coordinate and collaborate with each other to an extent. They were able to solve problems set by scientists—for example, two birds could pull strings at the same time to obtain food. In another example, one bird stood on a perch to release a food-laden tray, while the other pulled the tray out from the test apparatus. Both would then feed. The birds in question were observed waiting for their partners to perform the necessary actions so their behavior could be synchronized. The parrots appeared to express individual preferences as to which of the other test birds they would work with.
I felt sad. It is so smart that it must know what had happened on him.
We should think twice before keeping any kind of pet.

There are 4 kinds of traps that was used by Saideke tribe. Each is simple but ingenuity. The first one was used to catch the wild boar, which is strong and wild. Since I was too excited to take the photo, I decide to draw it with simple lines. 

The two orange things was two pieces of wood, and while wild boar stepped on it, the string will pull back, and pull it to the strong tree. Because the tree used in trap today was quite thin, it is hard to catch wild boar even our lovely classmate, Steven. The second one was quite savage and cruel. It used giant rock to quash all animals passing by. Like this:

It is quite amazing to see these life technical of aboriginals. In the afternoon we went to Chuenyang farm, wanted to experience the tomato harvest. Unfortunately, most of the tomatoes have not matured. The tour guide said because of the heavy rain and the low temperature these days, the harvest of tomatoes delayed. Each of us could only pick two tomatoes. What a sad story!! But it tasted good.

We got up early today. We were going to watch birds. According to the video we had saw yesterday, 1/4 of Taiwan birds can be seen in Meifung Farm, that was quite impressive since the number of bird species in Taiwan is about 450, that means we can see almost 100 kinds of birds. Carrying the telescope, we walked in to the sunshine with the chilly air. However, we could hardly see the birds. We tried hard, but most of the time we only heard the songs. Teachers said that the main reasons might be the timing. In summer, all the parents should feed their offspring, so they won’t have time to stand still on top of branches, doing nothing except singing.

Because for getting up early, I found that our breakfast was more delicious than before.

Juice time in afternoon. Today’s specialty is beet. I thought the color of beet was quite beautiful, but the flavor was… I don’t like it. Although we had a lot of beet in the material basket, all of us avoid putting beets into juice maker. But at the last minutes, Jack asked us to use all the beets left behind. We made a pure beet juice… and I tasted it… OMG.

Jingshan Blue Dye. It is so beautiful. We dripped our hand deep into the dying tank, feeling weird and strange. At the same time, it has a strong smell which makes everyone frowned their eyebrows. The blue of the dye is very special, because once you took out the cloth, it was light green, but while it exposed under sunshine, it became blue. Actually, how we made it did not impress me. Everyone hung up the cloth, and we started to appreciate all the works. Wind stroked our faces, the clothes flowing in the air. Because we were in the mountain, the temperature was about 24℃. When bathing in sunlight, I felt so peaceful and happy.

Dharma Drum Mountain was a mysterious place. It was open and wide. But it seems that the wind was stop, the cloud was fixed and the time was frozen. The structure of building was simple and neat, but to me, it was magnificent.

first time for several times

Yeliu Geology Park had been I place that I really wanted to go. Because of its natural beauty, there are more than one million visitors visits Yeliu. It is unbelievable since Yeliu is such a small place. In average, there are almost 3 thousand people a day flux into the tiny island. There are a series of landscapes with a rich diversity of marine life exist around the cape of Yehliu. I saw some plastic bags floating up and downs near the coast. It was a pity that we let our trash destroy such a beautiful place. But the water is still clean and clear. The most famous one was Queen’s Head. I was surprised when I saw it. It was quite small!!

And its neck was really thin that I guess all the visitors were all afraid when taking photos beside it. It looks like it will break if you touch it with your finger.

Today we had special dinner. We have to make dumplings by ourselves. It was also my first time to do so. At first, the dumplings were not tasty because the skin was too thick. Eat liked a lump of dough. But after practicing for a while, I thought I make the most delicious dumplings of all. How can I do it? Top secret.

I never thought of that one day I’ll go to fulong beach in weekend, especially in summer vacation. But I did. We had no lessons today, and my cute foreign friends want to go to the beach. “It is summer time!!” this is what they told me, so I took a deep breath, and decided to go with them. Students in Taiwan knows if you love to line up, wait for a long time for anything, get sunburn, sit and swim with a lot of people, the first you should go is fulong.

It was so crowded that we almost can’t get on the train. At the last moment when train was about to leave, we ran on the platform, finding the shortest line and squeezed ourselves into the carriage. There was a picture showing how throng it was.

But we had a great time. Although I didn’t get down the water, the weather was extremely nice while you hidden under umbrella.

Today was also the last day of . We took a lot of fun picture there. And this dragon was my favorite.

It was time that everyone got serious sunburn.

After the experimental design lecture, we headed to Yingge Ceramics Museum.Over a hundred years ago, the Yingge ceramic industry was born out of this fertile land. It enhanced the local Taiwanese culture with boundless vitality.It displays the masterpieces created with wind stoves, clay, and glazes, with the hope that the beauty of Taiwanese ceramics will be renowned worldwide.

The building  is majestic, and we made a lot of jump shut there, quite silly.

 Through the tour guide, I learned the brief history of this exquisite art. And we made a plate by ourselves.  I just drew it with simple color, but all of other classmate did delicate decorations on it, for example, Jiling. Looking forward for our works :)

The sun was still burning my skin and face. The bus stopped in front of one special architectural.

 It is Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines. It was established in 1994 as a specialist museum founded on the collection and display of artefacts of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples. The founder had said: ”In loving our native place we must cherish each other’s cultures.” Inside the museum there were lots of Introductions and models, tried to revert the real life of aboriginals. Although we want to promote the mutual understanding between different ethnic groups, I thought we should rethink the means we had taken. Since most of my aboriginal friends didn’t like to talk about their lineages and cultures, I wonder if there were something wrong about the actions we had taken. Hard working doesn’t guarantee the correctness. It just like you try to rescue an endangered animal but it try really hard to commit suicide.

I think we should think more about it.

The sky were so blue.

Today was brilliant.

The sun was scary hot, burning everyone, but the sky were so blue.

We went Yehliu Geopark,the north-east coast of Taipei. Every year more than  one million visitors visits Yehliu because of the astonishing landscape, so there will be about 2.7 thousand people per day flock in this tiny island...

Basically, it was super crowded.

But we had a great time there, cause the scenery was so beautiful.

As a Taiwanese, i am so proud that we have such a  beautiful place. Although i saw some plastic bags and paper flowing, but i can still saw the seaweed and the fish swimming in the blue ocean cause the water was transparent and clean.

We went to Dharma Drum Mountain this morning, carrying the works we had done earlier, the beautiful Jingshan Blue Dye cloth.
This picture was taken when everybody was looking at their own works with joy and pride.

And it was still a lot of people there, but unexpected, it was quite clam and quiet. On top of the mountain, the  smiling Buddha overlook the city and being esteemed by the confused people. While looking at its peaceful face, i felt happy and warm. Although BACT is a scientific program, it is still important for scientists to think about what is truly significant among our lives.
